Abstract
Protein Kinase C (PKC) constitutes a family of enzymes that fundamentally modify cellular signalling through the phosphorylation of other proteins. The modification serves as a molecular switch that alters the activity, location or interactions of the target protein within the cell. PKC enzymes have emerged as multifunctional regulators of cellular processes after their initial discovery through diacylglycerol activation. They control cell growth, guide cellular specialization, regulate programmed cell death, and orchestrate reorganization of the cell's internal skeleton—all crucial processes that, when dysregulated, contribute to disease development.
