Abstract
Role of motivation in students’ studying process can’t be overestimated. It’s crucial for student’s successful learning. Motivation in education is distinctly divided into two ideal types: intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the motivation the person has within himself or herself. In this case student is internally motivated. The learner gets pleasure of studying, feels that it’s important and that it gives him the feeling of significance. Extrinsic motivation is the type of motivation student gets from the external factors (parental coercion, money, better grades). The ARCS model, introduced by an American educational psychologist John M. Keller, includes both of the above mentioned types. The abbreviation ARCS stands for Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction.
