Abstract
The occurrence of somatoform and anxiety-related disorders is as high as 24%, but these estimates do not fully capture the complete impact of these mental disorders. To gain a better understanding, it isimportant to use indicators of symptom severity and quality of life. The quality of life for individuals with somatoform disorders (SFR) is notably reduced, particularly in the psychological aspect. People with SFR experience more significant impacts from depression, anxiety, health concerns, and alexithymia compared to healthy individuals. The objective of the research was to analyze the quality of life characteristics in patients with somatoform disorders and assess its relationship with sleep disorders. The study examined 120 patients with somatoform disorders and sleep disorders, including 39 males and 81 females. The overall quality of life index among the patients was 3.9 (3.2; 4.45) points, significantly lower compared to healthy individuals. The subjective well-being subscale scored 3.67 (3; 4) points, the fulfilling social roles subscale scored 3.86 (3; 4.63) points, and the external life circumstances subscale scored 4 (3.3; 5) points. All these subscale indicators were significantly lower than those in the healthy population. No significant gender differences in the quality of life indicators were observed.
